Mother's Day

Today I want to honor the best mother in the world, in my opinion. Of course I am totally impartial and objective, but I really believe my Mommy, Sharon Henrichsen, is the BEST MOTHER EVER!!!

I don't want to just recognize all the things she has done FOR me, because that just feels too selfish. However, I could never even recount the hours of service, dollars of sacrifice, and pounds of pain and suffering she has given for me. Think about how much she has given for my 8 other brothers and sisters too! Anyway, here are some things I admire about my mom:

1. She is constantly cheerful
2. She is faithful and obedient
3. She is fun and edifying
4. She has perfect, constant priorities
5. She brings Peace

I gave a speech in my Toastmasters Club a few months ago, to honor motherhood generally. But, if you watch it, you will see how it honors her specifically.  Happy Mother's Day, Mommy! And Happy Mother's Day to all Women who would like the honor!

Stopping the #1 Killer in the World

Next on my quest to save the world... stopping the number one killer in the world!

CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE!!
I just returned from a Synergy Conference where our goal is to Save a Heart a Day.  You really show your love for your loved ones when you care for your health. They will have to pick up the pieces when you get ill.
Here is one of my speeches about the way ProArgi9+ can help:

Since everyone asks me what I did to get rid of the "Freshmen Fifteen"
after 18 years and 4 children:
1.       Think like a Healthy person.
Know the power of your words and thoughts. Instead of saying “I have to lose 10 pounds,” think, “I am 140 pounds,” (or whatever your optimum weight is). If you are going to lose something, you usually have to find it again. I don’t want to find 10 more pounds! So the key is to ignore what you see right now. Don’t worry about your present circumstances. Focusing on that will bring you more of that. Instead, focus on who you want to become. Picture the scale the number that you want it to be. Make a picture of it if you have to. Stop calling yourself a fatso, or whatever other names you hate. Call yourself a healthy, slim person. Constantly tell yourself, “I am a healthy eater,” and then act on that.
2.     Get some help.
I use Pro-Argi9 Plus, an L-arginine Complexer. It helps curb my appetite, improve my endurance and speed recovery after exercise. It helps get the food I eat and the oxygen I breathe to the right parts of my body so I don’t feel hungry and exhausted. I love it! You may find something else that works for you, but whatever it is, don’t be afraid to use it. For more info, see argi9solutions.com/Enjoy or GetYour2Now.com/Synergy
3.       Plan your meals.
You plan other parts of your day, why not the best way to fuel your body? Fresh, raw fruits and vegetables are the best! Fill your kitchen, your lunchbox and your fridge with those. Let prepared foods and starches be the extras. If you already know what you will eat ahead of time, you can get excited for it and you will be less likely to “cheat” on things your body really doesn’t need.
4.      Always eat breakfast.
You cannot go anywhere in your car without gas; you should not expect to perform well physically or mentally without breakfast. You are setting up your metabolism for the day, and you don’t want to be on starvation mode.
5.        Be grateful.
Sit down when you eat, and express gratitude. If you are not the praying type and don’t feel comfortable thanking God for your food, find some other way to express gratitude. It is easier to enjoy healthy food when you are grateful. If you blindly eat, you are missing half of the pleasure of the food.

6.       Eat healthy first, if you must indulge.
Find food that is healthy that you love. You will need to live like this the rest of your life, so don’t torture yourself. Eat the healthy food before the junk food so at least you have something good in there first. You may find that you never get to the junk food. Before you reach for chips, chomp on some carrots. Instead of a candy bar, dig into a crunchy, sweet apple. You don’t have to give up on indulgences. I never have, and hope to never have to. But I have learned to limit them, and then really enjoy every bite of what I do eat.
7.       Find exercise that you really love.
You will be so much more likely to stick to it, even when you are sore and tired. Just like you plan your meals, plan your work outs. I found something I love (group exercise) and schedule it into my day. Find other people that love it too. Even if you are running the track at the same time but at a different pace, it is so much better to have company. A friend will hold you accountable, cheer you on, and inspire you. You do not have to do this alone.
8.       Do something else instead of eating.
Recognize when you are eating for fuel and when you are not. Are you stressed, mad, sad or just bored? Do something else to improve your mood instead of eating. I prefer to journal, nap, or read a book when I catch myself trying to eat for other reasons.
9.       Drink more water.
Sometimes you think you are hungry when you are really just thirsty. When I am watching a movie at night with my husband, it is tempting to eat snacks. Instead, I get a big glass of ice water and enjoy that through the movie. Your body can really use more water so give it more!
10.   Recognize cause and effect.
You really cannot cheat. Now, it sounds contradictory but it’s not. If you eat healthy enough MOST of the time, you will not see a big difference if you have dessert sometimes. But, you cannot lie. If you have bad habits your body will reflect that. Your body is a miracle and it will become what you put into it. You are (made of) what you eat.

Hopefully this will help you help me to save one more heart...
